01.19.06Paul Corn and The Brooklyn New Art Ensemble Demo for Blue Note Records
In late December Blue Note records agreed to listen to a demo of all new music composed by Paul Corn. The group, "Brooklyn New Art Ensemble" was put together by Paul and consisted of a wide array of musicians. The group has a very special energy, each voice in the ensemble adds its own flavor to achieve a truely unique sound. Two very special musicians playing on the recording are Salim Washington, Paul's teacher and friend for the past four years and Beavin Lawrence, another long-time friend and true voice to be heard on the Tenor Saxophone really help to make this recording a treat to listen to. All of the compositions are originals of Paul's and the band really does a great job of expressing their emotion. The last word received from Blue Note was that the record was still being considered and has passed successfully through two different R&D screenings.
